Trimlight Dealer Software: Quotes, Deposits and Crews
Trimlight gives dealers leads, training and the Edge app; the estimate is the dealer's. What runs beside it, with a front-only quote worked to $3,040.80.
A Trimlight dealer needs software for the jobs Trimlight hands to the dealer: the estimate, the deposit, the service call and the crew. Trimlight's own pages, checked October 25, 2026, list manufacturer-referred sales leads, pass homeowner repair requests to the local dealer, and say your "local, authorized, factory-trained" dealer guides the estimate. The Edge app runs the lights. On GlowBid's default rate card, a front-only bungalow quotes at $3,040.80, worked below.
Written by Jack Seguin, GlowBid founder. I run a permanent lighting company in Ottawa. GlowBid is independent software: it has no partnership with Trimlight, is not endorsed by Trimlight, and does not connect to the Edge app or Trimlight's dealer portal. It sits beside them. Every Trimlight fact below is from trimlight.com and linked in the sources.
Job step
What Trimlight's pages say it provides
What the dealer still runs
Territory and leads
A protected territory starting at your zip code; "Manufacturer-Referred Sales Leads"; a customer asking for a bid has the lead go "to a responsible party"
The call back, the photo measure, the follow-up
Training
2-day required training in Salt Lake City on installation, the app, sales, marketing and troubleshooting, travel at your cost
Training the installers you hire later
Support
A dedicated success manager and support "from your first quote through your hundredth installation"
The office, day to day
The estimate
The dealer "will guide you through the estimate process"; dealers set their own prices
Footage by run, per-foot pricing, the quote, the signature
Product
Wholesale pricing, product credit from the entry fee, 6, 9 or 12 inch spacing, 50+ channel colours
Ordering the right footage and nodes
The lights after install
The Trimlight Edge app for iPhone, iPad and Android
Pairing, zones, output settings, the handover
Warranty and service
Lifetime parts for the estimated lifespan, ridge lights 1 year, labour at least 1 year; HQ passes repair requests to the dealer
The service visit, the ladder, the invoice
That table is the whole case for this page. Trimlight gives a dealer a territory, a product and a lead. The house still has to become a price.
Where does dealer software sit next to the Trimlight Edge app?#
Before the lights and after them, never inside them. The Edge app is the homeowner's remote: colours, patterns, timers, music, remote access. It does not measure a roofline, price a peak or take a deposit. Your quoting software does those, and the two never need to talk.
In GlowBid that split looks like this. The address search shows a live Street View preview so you recognise the house, and that preview is display only, never stored and never measured. The measuring happens on a photo you or the homeowner own. You draw each run by type (roofline, ridge line, peak, jump), set the scale from a known length, and the footage, bill of materials and price all come from that one drawing. The quote PDF carries the drawing, footage by run, line items and a scope block. The homeowner signs on their phone and pays the deposit by card through Stripe.

Price this house
Move the sliders. The total comes from the same pricing engine GlowBid quotes with, on the default rate card.
Fast, and from a photo. Trimlight's dealer page lists manufacturer-referred sales leads and says a customer who reaches out for a bid should have the lead go to a responsible party; a lead you get outside your area is yours to take. A referred lead is a homeowner who already asked Trimlight for a price. Answer it the same day with a real number, not a callback request.
The quickest path I know: ask the homeowner for one straight-on photo of the front, draw it, and send a priced range the same day with the on-site measure booked to confirm it. The free roofline measuring tool does the drawing part with no login until export. Our guide to quoting permanent lighting at the door covers the on-site version.
What happens after the quote is where leads are lost. GlowBid sends appointment and job reminders by text with opt-out handling and consent. On Pro, the pipeline board tracks every referred lead through to signed, automated follow-up sequences chase quotes that sit, and quote-view tracking tells you when the homeowner opened it.
How should a Trimlight dealer set up the rate card?#
One product line per spacing, each with its own per-foot rates by run type, and the controller as its own line. Trimlight sells 6, 9 and 12 inch spacing. Twice the nodes on the same footage is not the same cost per foot, so a 6 inch line and a 12 inch line should never share a rate. Name the lines what you sell and set roofline, ridge line, peak and jump rates on each.
Trimlight's pricing page says local, independent dealers set linear-foot pricing and that permanent holiday lighting "costs range from $18-$35 per linear foot." It also prices its sample homes two ways: the front only, and all sides. That is how homeowners are taught to think about a Trimlight quote, so quote it the same way. Draw the whole house once, then send the front as one option and all sides as another.
Two more lines worth setting up. Trimlight's warranty page puts ridge lights at 1 year against lifetime parts on most of the system, so if you sell them, give them their own line and their own wording in the scope block. And set a service call fee now, before the first call comes in. Our permanent per-foot pricing guide sets the base rates, and ridge lines, peaks and jumps pricing covers the runs that cost the most ladder time.
Worked example: a front-only quote, then all sides#
The house is a one-storey bungalow with two front gables. Measured from the homeowner's photo with the 16 ft garage door as the reference, the front has 64 ft of roofline, 34 ft of peaks and 8 ft of jumps, 98 lit feet. Priced on GlowBid's default rate card, track line, US dollars before tax. Installers set their own rates; these are the starting numbers every new account gets. You can price this house in the free tool.
Then the same drawing extended to the sides and back: 164 ft of roofline, 68 ft of peaks and 14 ft of jumps, still one controller.

All sides

The all-sides deposit at 30 percent is $2,012.28. Both totals sit inside the ranges Trimlight prints for its first sample home ($2,500 to $3,500 for the front, $5,400 to $9,000 for all sides), but those are Trimlight's illustrations, not a benchmark for your market. The per-foot drops on the bigger job because the controller is spread over more footage, which is exactly why it belongs on its own line.
The handover is a dealer job, and so is the first year of repairs. Trimlight's Edge guide says controllers pair over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, that schedules run only when the controller is in Timer mode, and that output assignments, RGB order and pixel settings "should only be changed by your Trimlight dealer." Its warranty page says installation, support and repairs are "provided exclusively by your local dealer," that labour on defective parts is covered for at least one full year, and that a dealer may charge a minimum $75 service fee when the parts turn out to work.

So record the setup before you leave. On GlowBid Ultimate, the work order carries a photo-gated checklist: the crew cannot tick "controller set up" without a photo of it. GlowBid stores the photo on the job; it does not read or change the controller. When HQ forwards a repair request in March, the photo tells you what was installed.
Put the labour term in the agreement, not in a conversation. GlowBid's permanent one-time agreement type carries your own clauses, and our permanent lighting installation agreement template has the warranty and controller handover wording. Bill repairs from the invoice with its payments ledger, and use service call and repair pricing to set the fee. If you also run seasonal lighting, the multi-year lease agreement creates each season's install and takedown job when it is signed.
Through the production board, with prices hidden. Trimlight's required training is two days in Salt Lake City, and the installers you hire later may never have been there. GlowBid Ultimate gives you a board with Signed, Booked, In Progress and Finished, installer assignment, work orders, photo-gated checklists and homeowner sign-off at the end. Crew members never see prices or customer personal details. The office sees everything; the ladder sees the job.
No connection to the Edge app or any Trimlight controller. It cannot change a pattern, a timer or an output.
No connection to Trimlight's dealer portal, lead routing or warranty registration. A referred lead reaches you the way it does today, and you enter the customer.
No Trimlight product catalogue or part numbers. You name your product lines and set your own prices.
No offline mode, and no app store app. It is an installable web app.
One rate for every spacing. 6 inch nodes at a 12 inch price is margin you never see. One line per spacing.
Controller folded into the per-foot rate. It makes the small job look cheap and the big one look dear. Own line, always.
Quoting all sides when they asked about the front. Send both from one drawing and let them choose.
Selling lifetime parts as lifetime service. Trimlight's warranty covers parts; labour is at least 1 year and then yours. Say which on the quote.
Leaving the controller in Manual mode. Schedules will not run, and the call-back is free labour. Timer mode goes on the checklist.
Ordering channel from the photo number. Photo measurements are estimates. Confirm on site, and keep the materials buffer you chose (GlowBid's default is 10 percent).
Trimlight's dealer map lists 330+ authorized dealers across the US and Canadian provinces, and the dealer sets the price, not Trimlight. When you compare two quotes, ask each dealer for footage by run (roofline, peaks, jumps), the node spacing, whether the controller is its own line, how long their labour warranty runs, and who sets up the Edge app with you. A quote that answers all five is easier to compare than a single number.
The permanent lighting dealer software hub compares what five manufacturers give their dealers, and permanent lighting brands compared puts Trimlight's spacing, voltage and warranty next to the others. GlowBid is Core $69, Pro $119 and Ultimate $169 a month, or $299, $499 and $699 a year, a yearly price locked while the subscription stays continuous, with a 7-day trial with no card and a 30-day money-back on a first yearly payment. Deposits through GlowBid carry Stripe processing plus a platform margin under 1 percent, shown before you connect Stripe. See pricing. Or start where every quote starts: draw the roofline in the free measuring tool.
FAQ
Questions installers ask
Does Trimlight give its dealers quoting software?
Not on its public pages. Trimlight's dealer page, checked October 25, 2026, lists required training, manufacturer-referred leads, a demo kit, wholesale pricing and product credit, and its quote page says your local dealer guides the estimate. The dealer portal sits behind a login, so ask your success manager what it holds. The per-foot quote, the signature and the deposit are the dealer's to run.
Is GlowBid connected to Trimlight or the Edge app?
No. GlowBid is independent software with no partnership, endorsement or data link with Trimlight. It does not read or change Edge controller settings, does not pull leads from Trimlight and does not hold Trimlight part numbers. A Trimlight dealer uses it beside the brand's own tools: GlowBid for the drawing, quote, signature, deposit and crew, the Edge app for the lights themselves.
How should a Trimlight dealer price 6, 9 and 12 inch spacing?
As three product lines, each with its own per-foot rates for roofline, ridge line, peak and jump. On 100 lit feet, 6 inch spacing puts 200 nodes on the house and 12 inch puts 100, so your material cost per foot is not the same and one shared rate hides the difference. The customer picks the spacing from the mockup and the quote picks the matching line.
What should a Trimlight dealer charge for a service call?
Your own call-out fee, set on your rate card and printed on the agreement. Trimlight's warranty page says labour on defective parts is covered for at least one full year and that a dealer may charge a minimum $75 service fee when the parts turn out to be working. After your labour term ends, the ladder is a paid visit unless your agreement says otherwise.
Can my crew see the job without seeing prices?
Yes, on GlowBid Ultimate. Crew members get the production board, their assigned work orders and photo-gated checklists, and the homeowner signs off at the end. They never see prices or customer personal details. That suits a Trimlight dealer who trained in Salt Lake City and now sends out installers who may not have, with a checklist that makes them photograph the controller before they leave.
Do I need a separate app to quote a Trimlight house?
You need something that turns the house into footage and a price, because the Edge app runs lights, not quotes. In GlowBid you open a photo you own, set the scale from a known length such as the garage door, draw each run by type, and the footage and price come from that drawing. Photo measurements are estimates, so confirm on site before you cut channel.
