Trimlight publishes $18 to $35 per linear foot installed on its own pricing page, checked October 25, 2026, with front-of-house examples from $2,500 to $6,800 and all-sides examples from $5,400 to $14,500. The local dealer sets the final rate, and Trimlight's own pages disagree on whether the controller sits inside the per-foot number. Below: every Trimlight price we could verify, what the examples imply, and one house priced front only and all sides.

What is inside Trimlight's $18 to $35 per foot?#

The whole installed job, according to Trimlight's June 2026 cost guide: custom-cut aluminum channel, the LED hardware, mounting and electrical parts, install by factory-trained technicians, electrical hookup, testing and a final walkthrough in the Trimlight Edge app. Work outside the normal scope is extra, such as unusual wiring routes, fascia repair or structural changes.

The controller is the open question. The pricing page says the controller and install costs may or may not be rolled into the per-foot price. The August 2026 pricing blog says in its FAQ that the per-foot price includes the controller. A Massachusetts dealer says the control unit may be priced separately. So two dealers can both be inside $18 to $35 and still differ by the price of a controller.

What moves the rate, on Trimlight's own pages:

  • Regional costs. Licensing and permits, local tax, construction type, weather, local wages, installer insurance and shipping.
  • The house. Size and design, multi-storey homes and special architectural features.
  • The product. Classic, 3L and Commercial bulbs at different price points, and 6, 9 or 12 inch spacing. Tighter spacing means more bulbs per foot and more hardware cost.
  • Extra areas. Patio covers, pergolas, walkways and landscape beds beyond the roofline, per the August 2026 pricing blog.

What do Trimlight's example homes tell an installer?#

That all sides costs about twice the front, not three times. Divide each example's all-sides price by its front price:

Trimlight example Front All sides All sides vs front
Home 1 $2,500 to $3,500 $5,400 to $9,000 2.2x to 2.6x
Home 2 $3,400 to $5,200 $6,500 to $12,000 1.9x to 2.3x
Home 3 $4,400 to $6,800 $7,500 to $14,500 1.7x to 2.1x

Trimlight's cost guide says full-perimeter coverage is roughly two to three times the front footage. If the footage goes up two to three times and the price goes up 1.7 to 2.6 times, the price per foot falls on the bigger job. That is our reading of their numbers, not something Trimlight states. It makes sense from the ladder: the controller, the truck, the setup and the app walkthrough happen once per house. Back eaves are often simpler than the front, too, with fewer gables.

The lesson for quoting: never price the back by scaling up the front total. Price the feet per foot, and price the one-time items as lines that appear once.

What do Trimlight dealers publish?#

Very few publish anything beyond the corporate range, and the ones that do show the same pattern: small houses cost more per foot. Trimlight Phoenix, an authorized dealer, publishes four tiers. Reading the first three at their midpoints:

Phoenix tier (front of house) Lit footage Published range Midpoint price Midpoint per foot
Tier 01 50 to 149 ft $2,200 to $4,500 $3,350 at about 100 ft $33.50
Tier 02 100 to 199 ft $3,000 to $5,500 $4,250 at about 150 ft $28.33
Tier 03 150 to 249 ft $4,000 to $7,500 $5,750 at about 200 ft $28.75

The fourth tier, whole house at 200 to 1,000 ft for $6,000 to $40,000, is too wide to read a rate from. The same page lists commercial lighting at $32 to $36 a foot, downlights at $300 to $400 each and bistro lights at $20 to $25 a foot, offers 0 percent financing, and calls its ranges "the starting point for a quote, not the quote itself."

A New Braunfels, Texas dealer told a local paper in a sponsored article on February 4, 2024 that its products ran $19 to $29 per linear foot by light type. That is more than two years old and supplied by the business, so treat it as history, not a current price. The Massachusetts dealer repeats the corporate range and example homes.

How do you build your own Trimlight price per foot?#

From your dealer cost, which is not public. Trimlight's dealer page says entry is $5,000 plus $499 for 30 zip codes or fewer, or $10,000 plus $499 for 31 or more. The $499 is a demo kit and colour chips; the rest is credit toward product, bought at wholesale until a volume discount applies. No royalties, no monthly fees, a required two-day training in Salt Lake City at your own travel cost, and a protected territory with a quota. The wholesale sheet itself is not published, so every per-foot rate below is yours to set from it.

Each Trimlight choice maps to a field on the rate card. GlowBid's default rate card numbers are shown as the starting point:

Trimlight variable Where it goes on the rate card GlowBid default
Spacing: 6, 9 or 12 in One product line per spacing Track line, $25 roofline and ridge line
Bulb: Classic, 3L, Commercial One product line per bulb, or a custom line Same track line until you split it
Peaks and steep pitch Peak run type plus pitch premium $28 a foot plus 15%
Multi-storey Storey premium on each upper run 10%
Jumps between runs Jump run type, unlit $12 a foot
Controller Add-on line, once per zone $250
Downlights, globe lights Add-ons priced each Set your own
Small houses Minimum job $1,500
Deposit Percent due at signing 30%

Spacing changes your cost, not the customer's footage. On 280 lit feet, 12 inch spacing is 280 bulbs, 9 inch is 374 and 6 inch is 560. A 6 inch line priced at the 12 inch rate is margin you never see. The full method is in how to price permanent Christmas lights per foot, and the day-to-day side of running a Trimlight dealership is on software for Trimlight dealers.

Worked example: one house, front only and all sides#

A two-storey with a single-storey garage and two front gables, measured from the installer's own photo with the 16 ft garage door as the reference. Front only is 110 lit feet. All sides adds the back and both side eaves on the upper storey and a back porch eave, for 280 lit feet. Photo footage is an estimate, confirmed on site. Priced on GlowBid's default track line, one controller.

The front works out to $32.23 per lit foot and all sides to $29.61. Footage went up 2.5 times; the price went up 2.3 times, inside the 1.7 to 2.6 band Trimlight's own examples show. The front lands inside Trimlight's example home 2 ($3,400 to $5,200), and all sides inside homes 1, 2 and 3. Both per-foot numbers sit inside $18 to $35. If your dealer sheet calls for a second power supply or zone on a run that long, add it as its own line. Want your own house split front and all sides? Measure it in the free roofline tool and read the feet by run type.

What does the lifetime warranty cost the dealer?#

The labour after year one. Trimlight's warranty page covers parts for the manufacturer's estimated lifespan of the part. Labour on defective parts is a minimum of one year and comes from the local dealer, not Trimlight head office. Ridge lights carry one year, not lifetime. Downlights and standard residential lights are lifetime, landscape lights ten years, globe lights lifetime with two years on the lens. The control board is covered; the app software and Wi-Fi interference are not, and a minimum $75 service fee may apply when parts sent in turn out to work.

Build that into the price two ways: a labour term on the quote that you can afford to keep, and a service call rate for everything after it. The service call and repair pricing page has the structure.

Does Trimlight publish Canadian prices?#

No. Trimlight's Calgary location page shows a lifetime product warranty and no figure. The Kamloops dealer launch on March 10, 2026 promises free local estimates, also with no figure. The $18 to $35 range is in US dollars. Our Canadian permanent lighting cost page converts it at a dated Bank of Canada rate. A Canadian quote should be in CAD, with GST or HST added (13 percent in Ontario).

For homeowners: comparing two Trimlight quotes#

Same brand, same house, two different totals is normal. Line the quotes up on four things:

  • Feet by run type. Front only or all sides, and how many feet of peaks. You can check the footage from your own photo.
  • The controller. Inside the per-foot rate, or its own line?
  • Spacing and bulb. 6, 9 or 12 inch, and Classic, 3L or Commercial. Tighter spacing costs more.
  • Labour warranty. One year is Trimlight's minimum. Ask what a service call costs after that.

Then divide each total by its lit feet. If both land inside Trimlight's $18 to $35 and the lines match, the cheaper one is cheaper. If the lines do not match, you are not comparing the same job. To see Trimlight's range beside the other brands, read the permanent lighting brands comparison or the permanent Christmas lights cost page. Weighing it against EverLights? Start with EverLights vs Trimlight; EverLights publishes kit prices rather than an installed range, which is why EverLights cost per foot reads so differently from this page.

Mistakes and edge cases#

  • Quoting the corporate range as your price. $18 to $35 is national. Your rate comes from your dealer sheet, your crew's feet per hour and your market.
  • Scaling the front total for all sides. The controller and setup happen once. Price the extra feet per foot and the one-time items once.
  • Assuming the controller is in. Trimlight's pages disagree. Put it on its own line and say so.
  • One rate across spacings and bulbs. 560 bulbs and 280 bulbs on the same 280 ft are not the same cost. One product line each.
  • Promising lifetime labour. Lifetime is parts. Labour is your term, starting at one year.
  • Ridge lights under the lifetime promise. Trimlight gives ridge lights one year. Print it.
  • Copying another market's tiers. Phoenix wages, permits and shipping are not Ottawa's or Dallas's. Trimlight lists those as price drivers for a reason.
  • No minimum on a porch job. At the Phoenix dealer's midpoints, small jobs run about $5 a foot more. A minimum job covers it honestly.

Quoting front only and all sides from one drawing#

The worked example above is the job GlowBid was built for. Draw the whole house once on your own photo and mark the storeys; leave the back runs off and you have the front-only quote, add them and you have all sides, with the controller line appearing once either way. Set each Trimlight spacing and bulb you sell as its own product line, so the 6 inch option prints its own rate and your labour term prints beside Trimlight's parts term. Every measurement carries a source tag and a confidence level, and the quote says photo footage is an estimate confirmed on site. The homeowner e-signs on their phone and pays the deposit by card through Stripe; GlowBid adds a platform margin under 1 percent on top of Stripe processing, shown before you connect. Prices start at $69 a month or $299 a year on the pricing page, with a 7-day trial (no card) and a 30-day money-back guarantee on a first yearly payment.

FAQ

Questions installers ask

How much does Trimlight cost per foot?

$18 to $35 per linear foot installed, on Trimlight's own pricing page as of October 25, 2026. That is a national range; the local authorized dealer sets the actual rate. One Arizona dealer publishes tiers that work out to roughly $28 to $34 a foot at their midpoints. Ask your dealer for the per-foot rate by run type and the controller as its own line.

Is the controller included in Trimlight's price per foot?

It depends on the dealer, and Trimlight's own pages do not agree. The pricing page says the controller and installation may or may not be rolled into the per-foot price. The August 2026 pricing blog's FAQ says the per-foot price covers channel, bulbs, controller and labour. A Massachusetts dealer says the control unit may be priced separately. Get it in writing before you compare two quotes.

How much does Trimlight cost for a whole house?

Trimlight's three example homes run $5,400 to $9,000, $6,500 to $12,000 and $7,500 to $14,500 for all sides, against $2,500 to $6,800 for the front only. Its June 2026 cost guide says most homes land between $2,000 and $6,000 or more. An Arizona dealer's whole-house tier runs $6,000 to $40,000 for 200 to 1,000 ft, so the footage decides it.

Why does Trimlight cost more per foot on a small house?

Because some of the job does not scale with feet. The controller, the trip, the setup and the app walkthrough happen once, whether the house has 80 ft or 280 ft. Read at their midpoints, an Arizona dealer's tiers run about $33.50 a foot at 100 ft and about $28.50 at 150 to 200 ft. Expect a minimum job on small houses.

How much does it cost to become a Trimlight dealer?

$5,000 plus $499 for a territory of 30 zip codes or fewer, or $10,000 plus $499 for 31 or more, on Trimlight's dealer page on October 25, 2026. The $499 buys a demo kit and colour chips and the rest becomes credit toward product. Trimlight states no royalties, no monthly fees and no renewal charges, and requires two days of training in Salt Lake City.

Does Trimlight's lifetime warranty cover labour?

No. The lifetime warranty covers parts for their estimated lifespan. Labour on defective parts is a minimum of one year, and it comes from the local dealer, not Trimlight head office. Ridge lights carry one year. So from year two, a failed part is free and the ladder is not, unless your dealer offers more. Ask what the service call costs.

Does Trimlight publish prices in Canadian dollars?

Not on any page we found. The Calgary location page and the March 2026 announcement of a Kamloops dealer both offer local estimates with no figure. The $18 to $35 range is in US dollars. Ask a Canadian dealer for a written CAD per-foot rate, and expect GST or HST on top (13 percent in Ontario).
