Oelo publishes its own ballpark prices: installs start at $1,638 for 25 ft, $3,750 for 100 ft and $8,138 for 250 ft, which is about $65.52 down to $32.55 a foot by our arithmetic. DIY kits run $1,088 to $5,095 on the same chart. Oelo calls the install figures starting prices that vary with location and difficulty. Below: the full chart, what it implies per foot, and one house priced line by line.

Written by the GlowBid founder. Oelo's site refused our automated fetch on October 28, 2026, so we read the chart from a dated archive capture of Oelo's own page (August 9, 2025) and checked that search results that day showed the same installed figures. GlowBid has no relationship with Oelo or any Oelo dealer.

Linear feet DIY kit (acrylic to metal) Installed starting price Installed per foot Install above the kit's top price
25 ft $1,088 to $1,199 $1,638 $65.52 $439
50 ft $1,454 to $1,595 $2,304 $46.08 $709
75 ft $1,932 to $1,994 $3,082 $41.09 $1,088
100 ft $2,300 to $2,394 $3,750 $37.50 $1,356
125 ft $2,645 to $2,768 $4,395 $35.16 $1,627
150 ft $3,121 to $3,181 $5,171 $34.47 $1,990
175 ft $3,466 to $3,561 $5,816 $33.23 $2,255
200 ft $3,884 to $4,082 $6,534 $32.67 $2,452
225 ft $4,460 to $4,543 $7,493 $33.30 $2,950
250 ft $4,888 to $5,095 $8,138 $32.55 $3,043

The first three columns are Oelo's. The last two are our arithmetic on them. Oelo prints the 225 ft kit range high number first ($4,543 to $4,460); we flipped it.

Does Oelo publish a price per foot?#

Not as a single rate, but it publishes enough to work one out. Oelo's "Oelo Lights Cost" page sets out ballpark pricing by length, from 25 ft to 250 ft, with a DIY kit price and an installed starting price for each. It says the install prices are "starting prices" that vary with location and complexity, and a footnote adds difficulty and time of year. It is a reference point, not a dealer's quote.

Divide each installed price by its length and you get about $65.52 a foot at 25 ft, $37.50 at 100 ft and $32.55 at 250 ft. Past about 150 ft the line flattens at roughly $32 to $35 a foot. That is our division, not a per-foot rate Oelo states.

The same page says Oelo quotes system plus optional installation, through a national network of installers, and that its kits are sold online for self-install. So unlike brands that are dealer-only, Oelo gives a homeowner both prices side by side.

How much more is installed than the kit?#

About $12 to $18 a foot above the top of the kit range, by our arithmetic on Oelo's chart. The gap is $439 on a 25 ft run, $1,356 at 100 ft and $3,043 at 250 ft. Per foot, it is highest on short runs ($17.56 at 25 ft) and settles near $12 to $13 a foot from 125 ft up.

That pattern is exactly what a rate card should do. Part of every job is fixed: the trip, the controller setup, the app walkthrough, the ladders coming off the truck. Spread over 25 ft it is a big number per foot; spread over 250 ft it nearly disappears. If your card has one flat per-foot rate and no minimum job, your short jobs are underpriced.

One more line to watch: Oelo's quote form offers downward-facing lights, outward-facing lights, or both, and notes that both doubles the price. The chart prices one row. A two-row install is two lines on the quote.

How do dealers build an Oelo price per foot?#

Start from your real product cost and build the job on top. In order:

  1. Product per foot. Your tier price if you are an Oelo dealer; the store kit price is your ceiling if you are not.
  2. Cover type. The chart range spans acrylic and metal light covers. Price the one the customer picks.
  3. Labour by run type. Roofline, ridge line, peak and jump are different feet.
  4. Premiums. Pitch on peaks, storeys on upper runs.
  5. Controller and power as lines.
  6. Your labour warranty, since Oelo's coverage after year one is parts only.
  7. Minimum job and deposit.

Here are the starting numbers on GlowBid's default rate card. Every installer replaces them with their own.

Line GlowBid default (track)
Roofline, per lit foot $25.00
Ridge line, per lit foot $25.00
Peak, per lit foot $28.00 plus 15% pitch premium
Jump, per unlit foot $12.00
Storey premium 10% on each upper-storey run
Wi-Fi controller $250 add-on
Minimum job $1,500
Deposit at signing 30%

The method behind each line is in how to price permanent Christmas lights per foot, and peaks and jumps are covered in pricing ridge lines, peaks and jumps.

Worked example: a 200 ft ranch at $5,682#

A single-storey ranch lit on the front and both sides: 170 ft of roofline, two 15 ft peaks and three short jumps totalling 18 ft. Measured from the installer's own photo against the 16 ft garage door. Photo footage is an estimate and gets confirmed on site before anything is cut. Priced on GlowBid's default track line.

That is 200 lit feet at $28.41 a foot. Oelo's own installed starting price for 200 ft is $6,534, or $32.67 a foot. To get your own house in feet by run type, draw it in the free roofline tool and price it against any card.

Now hold it against Oelo's kit prices on the chart:

Product at Oelo chart kit prices Product cost Left of $5,682 for labour, overhead and margin Left per lit foot
200 ft kit, top of range $4,082.00 $1,600.00 $8.00
225 ft kit, top of range (the 10% buffer is 220 ft) $4,543.00 $1,139.00 $5.70

Oelo's own install price leaves about $12 a foot above the kit at this size. The GlowBid default card leaves $8, or $5.70 once the buffer pushes the order to the next kit. So on Oelo bought at retail kit prices, the default card is too thin; a dealer tier price changes both rows. The profit margin page works jobs through to net.

What does the Oelo warranty do to your price?#

It depends on your tier, and it never pays the ladder after year one. Oelo's warranty page gives 7 years on Authorized, Preferred and Platinum dealer installs from January 1, 2024, and 5 years on Contractor and customer DIY installs. Systems installed before 2024 carry 5 years. Year one is full coverage, at Oelo's option. After that it is component-only: parts are covered and labour is not included. The warranty transfers once, with the new owner calling Oelo within 60 days of the sale, and claims go in within 30 days of finding the problem.

So the same lights carry a different term depending on your agreement. Print your tier's years and your own labour term on every quote, and keep a service call rate on your card. The service call and repair pricing page has the structure.

How does Oelo compare with other brands?#

Oelo publishes the most detail by length. JellyFish's pricing page gives about $25 to $35 a foot at corporate locations plus a $650 to $850 controller; see JellyFish Lighting cost per foot. Trimlight publishes $18 to $35 per linear foot; see Trimlight cost per foot. EverLights publishes kits but no installed rate; see EverLights cost per foot. Gemstone publishes no price; see Gemstone Lights cost per foot. Specs head to head are in Trimlight vs Oelo and Oelo vs JellyFish.

For homeowners: reading an Oelo quote#

Hold any quote against Oelo's chart, then ask for:

  • Footage by run type, each with its rate.
  • Cover type, acrylic or metal, since the kit price differs.
  • One row or two. Downward and outward lights doubles the price on Oelo's form.
  • The warranty years, which depend on the installer's Oelo tier, plus their own labour term.
  • The controller and power as lines.

Mistakes and edge cases#

  • Quoting Oelo's starting price as a ceiling. It is a floor; difficulty, location and season push it up.
  • One flat rate on a 25 ft job. Oelo's own chart is $65.52 a foot at 25 ft. Set a minimum job.
  • The buffer crossing a kit size. 200 lit feet plus 10 percent is 220 ft, which is the 225 ft kit.
  • Two rows priced as one. Out and down is two lines.
  • Promising 7 years on a Contractor-tier install. It is 5.
  • Measuring from a satellite view. Gables shrink from above and the imagery is not yours to measure. Use your own photo with a known length, and confirm on site.
  • Canadian quotes off US numbers. Oelo's chart shows dollar prices with no currency note. Quote CAD in writing and add GST or HST (13 percent in Ontario).

Quoting Oelo from one drawing#

In GlowBid you draw the runs on your own photo, set the scale from a known length, and footage, bill of materials and price all come from that one drawing, with your materials buffer (default 10 percent) applied to the order, never to the price. Set Oelo up as its own product line, with acrylic and metal as separate lines if you sell both, and your controller at your real cost. Every measurement carries a source tag and a confidence level, and the quote says photo footage is an estimate confirmed on site. Plans start at $69 a month or $299 a year on the pricing page, with a 7-day trial (no card) and a 30-day money-back guarantee on a first yearly payment.

FAQ

Questions installers ask

How much does Oelo lighting cost per foot installed?

Oelo's ballpark pricing page lists installed starting prices from $1,638 for 25 ft to $8,138 for 250 ft. That works out to about $65.52 a foot on the shortest run and about $32.55 a foot at 250 ft, by our arithmetic. Oelo calls these starting prices that vary with location, difficulty and time of year, so a local dealer's quote can be higher.

How much is an Oelo DIY light kit?

Oelo's ballpark chart lists DIY kits from $1,088 to $1,199 for 25 ft up to $4,888 to $5,095 for 250 ft, with the range covering its acrylic and metal kits. Oelo's individual product pages show prices that do not always match the chart, so check the store on the day you buy. A 100 ft kit runs $2,300 to $2,394 on the chart.

Why is the Oelo install price so much more than the kit?

Because install is labour, ladders and setup on top of product. On Oelo's own chart, the installed starting price sits about $12 to $18 a foot above the top of the kit range, by our arithmetic. At 100 ft that gap is $1,356; at 250 ft it is $3,043. Short runs carry the biggest gap per foot, because the trip and setup do not shrink.

Does the Oelo warranty change if I install it myself?

Yes. Oelo's warranty page gives 7 years on installs by Authorized, Preferred and Platinum dealers from January 1, 2024, and 5 years on Contractor and customer DIY installs. In both cases the first year is full coverage and later years are component-only, with labour not included. So who installs the lights changes the warranty the homeowner gets.

Does Oelo cost more for lights facing out and down?

Yes. Oelo's quote form offers downward-facing lights, outward-facing lights, or both, and notes that choosing both doubles the price. The ballpark chart prices one row of lights, so a two-row install should be quoted as two lines, not one. Ask your installer to show each row with its own footage and rate.

Can I check Oelo's prices myself?

Yes, on oelo.com, though its security check refused our automated fetch on October 28, 2026. We read the chart from a dated archive capture of Oelo's own page, August 9, 2025, and search results that day showed the same 25, 100 and 250 ft installed figures. Look at the live page before you rely on any row.
