JellyFish Lighting dealers need software for the work JellyFish leaves to them: measuring the house, pricing track per foot, counting controllers and power supplies, and taking the deposit. JellyFish's own pages, checked October 25, 2026, show about $25 to $35 per foot plus a $650 to $850 controller at its corporate locations, and say authorized dealers "operate independently and their pricing varies." Its dealer FAQ asks "How do I bid a project?" with no public answer. Here is one.

Written by Jack Seguin, GlowBid founder. I run a permanent lighting company in Ottawa. GlowBid is independent software: it has no partnership with JellyFish Lighting, is not approved by JellyFish, and does not connect to the JellyFish Cloud app, the controller or the dealer portal. It sits beside them. Every JellyFish fact below is from jellyfishlighting.com and linked in the sources.

Dealer, partner or corporate location: who needs quoting software?#

The dealer does. JellyFish runs three routes to a homeowner. Corporate locations install and price themselves. Partners, per JellyFish's partner page, "facilitate sales" through referrals, with installation and servicing listed under JellyFish. Authorized dealers measure, price, install and service on their own, and the dealer page pitches the program to contractors who want to "Add JellyFish Lighting to your business."

If you are a partner, you hand off the lead and you do not need a per-foot quote. If you are a dealer, every quote is yours, and it is often written after the homeowner has already seen JellyFish's own pricing page. That shapes the whole quote: it has to show its arithmetic.

How do you price beside a published corporate number?#

By run type, with the controller and power on their own lines, so the homeowner can see what they are paying for. JellyFish's pricing page shows "~$25-35" per foot and "$650-850" for the controller, and says those are approximate prices from corporate locations. Your costs, your market and your labour are not theirs, and the page says so too: dealer pricing varies.

On GlowBid's default rate card the track line starts at $25 per foot of roofline, $28 per foot of peak plus a 15 percent pitch premium, $12 per foot of jump and a $250 Wi-Fi controller add-on. Those are the starting numbers every new account gets, not a recommendation; set the controller to the price you charge for the controller you install. The permanent per-foot pricing guide walks through setting each rate.

Spacing gets its own line. JellyFish sells 6, 9 and 16 inch spacing. On 100 lit feet that is 200, about 133 or 75 nodes, so a 16 inch line and a 6 inch line cost you very different amounts per foot. One product line per spacing, each with its own roofline, ridge line, peak and jump rates.

How many power supplies does the drawing need?#

Count them from lit footage, using JellyFish's figure for the controller you install. The track product page says one controller handles up to 250 ft of lights and that more power supplies can be added through the controller. The Pro2 controller manual gives a finer number: 350 lights over 263 ft, each added supply extending the range by 263 ft, up to 3,200 lights over 2,400 ft on one controller.

250 ftlights per controller, JellyFish track page
263 ftrange added per power supply, Pro2 manual
2,400 ftmost on one controller, Pro2 manual

Using the Pro2 manual's 263 ft step:

Lit footage drawn Added power supplies, Pro2 figure
Up to 263 ft 0
264 to 526 ft 1
527 to 789 ft 2
790 to 1,052 ft 3

The two pages give different numbers, 250 and 263 ft, and JellyFish does not say on them whether unlit jump cord counts toward the range. Ask your lighting specialist which figure applies, then use it every time. GlowBid does not count supplies for you. It gives you the lit footage from the drawing, with jumps listed apart, and you add the supply as its own add-on line at your price.

Worked example: a 268 ft two-storey house#

The house has 128 ft of main-storey roofline, 68 ft of upper-storey roofline, 72 ft of peaks and 22 ft of jumps across three gaps. That is 268 lit feet, measured from the homeowner's photo with the front door as the reference. GlowBid's default track line, US dollars before tax. You can price this house in the free tool.

At 268 lit feet the house is past both of JellyFish's figures, so the drawing tells you one added power supply before you climb. Leave it off and you find out on install day, at your cost. Without the controller, the runs work out to $28.55 per lit foot, inside the range JellyFish prints for its corporate locations, which is a reference point and not a target. The homeowner sees footage by run, the premiums and the controller on separate lines, and signs and pays the deposit on their phone.

Track, landscape and patio on one quote#

JellyFish describes its system as "the complete outdoor lighting system," covering track, landscape and patio lighting, all run from the same app. If you sell more than roofline track, keep it on one quote. In GlowBid you can add custom product lines and run types, and add-on lines for fixtures priced per unit. The track prices per foot from the drawing; the spotlights and patio lights sit as named add-ons. One quote, one signature, one deposit.

What happens at handover?#

You set up the app, the zones and the schedule before you leave, because JellyFish's support pages are written for a homeowner doing it alone. The download page offers JellyFish Cloud 2.0 for iOS and Android. The launch post says updating to Cloud 2.0 makes the old Designer app stop working, and the schedules page says a phone with both apps may have one overriding the other, so it recommends deleting Designer. Zones live in the Cloud app under Settings, then Controllers, then Zone Setup, with around 15 zones per the FAQ. Its Why JellyFish page says the controllers work with or without Wi-Fi.

On GlowBid Ultimate the work order carries a photo-gated checklist, so the installer cannot mark the handover done without photos of the controller and the app. GlowBid stores those photos on the job. It does not read or change anything in the Cloud app.

Which warranty goes on your quote?#

The one in your dealer agreement with JellyFish, printed in your scope block. JellyFish's track product page says 5 years on parts and 1 year on labour; its holiday lighting page says three years on parts and one year on labour. Do not pick one off the website. Get the term in writing, then use it on every quote and in your agreement. Our permanent lighting installation agreement template has the warranty, controller handover and service wording, and GlowBid's permanent one-time agreement type carries your own clauses.

Crews and the office#

On Ultimate, jobs move across a production board (Signed, Booked, In Progress, Finished), you assign installers, and the homeowner signs off at the end. Crew members never see prices or customer personal details. Texting covers appointment reminders and on-the-way messages, with opt-out handling and consent. On Pro, the pipeline board, automated quote follow-ups and quote-view tracking keep dealer leads from going cold, which matters most in a metro where a corporate location also sells.

What GlowBid does not do for a JellyFish dealer#

  • No connection to the JellyFish Cloud app, the controller, or the dealer portal.
  • No JellyFish product catalogue or part numbers. You name your lines and set your prices.
  • No automatic power supply count. It shows lit footage; you apply JellyFish's figure.
  • No offline mode. GlowBid runs as an installable web app, not an app store download, so the truck needs a signal.

Mistakes JellyFish dealers make on quotes#

  • Matching the corporate number blind. Price your own costs, then show the arithmetic.
  • One rate for 6 and 16 inch spacing. 200 nodes and 75 nodes on 100 ft are not the same job.
  • Forgetting the power supply. Past 250 or 263 lit feet, depending on the figure that applies, it is a line on the quote, not a surprise on the roof.
  • Quoting a warranty off the website. Two JellyFish pages disagree; your agreement decides.
  • Leaving both apps on the phone. Schedules fight. Cloud only.
  • Cutting track to the photo. A photo measurement is an estimate. Walk the eaves with a tape before you cut, and keep a materials buffer (GlowBid defaults to 10 percent, and you can change it).

For homeowners getting a JellyFish quote#

JellyFish's locations page lists seven corporate locations and searches 400+ US locations, and independent authorized dealers set their own prices. When you compare quotes, ask for footage by run, the node spacing, the controller and any power supplies as separate lines, the parts and labour warranty in writing, and who sets up the Cloud app and zones with you.

Where to go from here#

The permanent lighting dealer software hub covers what five manufacturers give their dealers, and permanent lighting brands compared sets JellyFish's 48 V track beside Trimlight, Gemstone, EverLights and Oelo. If you want the drawing, the quote and the deposit in one place, that is what GlowBid does. Plans are Core at $69, Pro at $119 and Ultimate at $169 a month, or $299, $499 and $699 a year, and a yearly price holds as long as you stay subscribed without a break. Try it for 7 days with no card; if you pay yearly and it is wrong for you in the first 30 days, you get your money back. A deposit collected through GlowBid carries Stripe's processing plus a GlowBid margin under 1 percent, and both are shown before you connect Stripe. The plans are on the GlowBid pricing page. The quicker test is the free roofline measuring tool below: draw one JellyFish house and read the lit footage off it.

FAQ

Questions installers ask

Does JellyFish Lighting give dealers quoting software?

Not that its public pages describe. The dealer page, checked October 25, 2026, lists guided training, a dedicated lighting specialist, essential materials, a Dealer Kit and a sign-in dealer portal, and its FAQ asks "How do I bid a project?" without a public answer. The portal's features sit behind the login, so ask your specialist. Measuring, pricing and signing the job are the dealer's to run.

Is GlowBid part of JellyFish Lighting or approved by it?

No. GlowBid is independent software with no partnership, approval or data link with JellyFish Lighting. It does not connect to the JellyFish Cloud app, the controller or the dealer portal, and it holds no JellyFish part numbers. A JellyFish dealer uses it beside the brand's own tools: GlowBid for the drawing, quote, signature, deposit and crew, the Cloud app for the lights.

How many power supplies does a JellyFish job need?

It depends on lit footage and the controller you install, so confirm with JellyFish. The track product page says up to 250 ft of lights per controller, with more power supplies added through the controller. The Pro2 manual says 350 lights over 263 ft, each added supply extending the range by 263 ft, up to 2,400 ft. GlowBid gives you the lit footage from the drawing; you apply the figure.

Should my price match the JellyFish corporate price?

Not unless your costs do. JellyFish's pricing page shows about $25 to $35 per foot and a $650 to $850 controller as the approximate installed price at corporate locations, and says authorized dealers operate independently and their pricing varies. Homeowners may have seen that page, so print footage by run and the controller as its own line. A clear quote is easier to compare than a matched number.

Which JellyFish app should my customer download?

JellyFish Cloud 2.0, the app JellyFish's download page offers today for iOS and Android. Its launch post says updating to Cloud 2.0 makes the old JellyFish Designer app stop working, and its support pages recommend deleting Designer so the two do not fight over schedules. Install it on the homeowner's phone at handover and set the zones before you leave.

Can I quote JellyFish landscape and patio lights on the same quote?

Yes. JellyFish describes its system as covering track, landscape and patio lighting. In GlowBid you price the track per foot by run type and add the landscape and patio fixtures as their own add-on lines at your prices, or as a custom product line. One quote, one signature, one deposit, with each item named the way you sell it.
