EverLights and JellyFish both sell through their own crews and independent dealers; they part ways on power and price. JellyFish runs its lights at 48 V with 250 ft per controller, offers 6, 9 and 16 inch spacing, and lists $25 to $35 a foot plus a $650 to $850 controller at its corporate locations. EverLights' kit runs on 24 V with a booster every 75 ft and no published install price.

Written by the GlowBid founder; facts checked on each brand's site on October 25, 2026. I run a permanent lighting company in Ottawa and build quoting software, not lights. GlowBid is not a dealer for either brand and has no partnership with either. Where a figure comes from a competitor's page instead of the brand's own, the table says so.

How does each brand reach the house?#

Both run company crews beside independent dealers, which means you may compete with the manufacturer in some cities. JellyFish's pricing page quotes its corporate locations and says authorized dealers operate independently with their own prices. It also runs a partner program: a business refers and sells, and JellyFish installs and services. That suits a roofer or a gutter company that wants the revenue without the ladder, and it means a partner may be selling into your area too.

EverLights has crews in five US markets, third-party dealers and distributors elsewhere, and a DIY kit line sold on its site. The kit is the difference. A JellyFish customer gets a professional install; an EverLights customer can also price the lights themselves at $1,675 per 100 ft before you knock.

For a Canadian installer like us, Canada did not come up on any page we read from either brand, so shipping, certification marks and warranty parts are questions for the rep, not the website.

48 V or 24 V: what changes on the layout?#

Voltage decides how much hardware is on the quote. JellyFish runs the lights at 48 V DC with a 12 V controller and states 250 ft of lights per controller, adding power supplies to run more lights. One controller covers most single houses; a long commercial front or a back-and-front job can pass 250 ft, and the extra hardware is its own line.

EverLights spreads the power out instead of sizing one big controller. The kit ships with a 24 V supply, and the install page asks for a power booster about every 75 ft, each one covering 75 ft, fed from either end. Control is wireless: a Smart Bridge on the router pairs with up to 20 receivers, one per strand, so front and back become two zones by adding a receiver rather than a second controller.

Put side by side, a JellyFish quote grows in controllers and power supplies past 250 ft, and an EverLights quote grows in boosters every 75 ft. The jumps differ too. EverLights wants a data buffer on any unlit wire longer than 5 ft, so its jumps carry hardware; JellyFish's pages we read set no such rule. Price jumps as their own run either way, as ridge lines, peaks and jumps pricing shows. The full EverLights layout is on our EverLights vs Trimlight page.

What does each light look like at the eave?#

JellyFish publishes more about the light itself. Its pages describe a puck-shaped frosted lens, 3-diode LEDs, IP67 casings filled with silicone, 16 gauge braided copper wire in a 4-wire system with one spare wire, and warm white presets from 2700K to 5000K. The track is colour-matched to the soffit at the measuring visit. The spacing is 6, 9 or 16 inches on the product and Built to Last pages, though one landing page says 18, so confirm before you order.

EverLights publishes RGBW lights with a true warm white, 70 lumens, a 50,000 hour rating and 200-plus patterns, facing outward or downward. Its own pages do not state the spacing. Trimlight's comparison says 9 inches and describes EverLights in the top lip of the gutter or the drip edge, which is a different mount from JellyFish's under-soffit track. That matters on an older house: a soffit track does not care about the gutter, while EverLights' warranty excludes damage from gutter failure and poor drainage.

For the customer who wants architectural white most of the year, ask both reps for the colour temperature at full white, and show the mockup at that setting.

What do the warranties say, and why do the pages disagree?#

Both brands publish two answers, so the dealer agreement is the only number to print. JellyFish's product page and its Why JellyFish page say 5 years on parts and 1 year on labour; its holiday lighting page says three years on parts and one on labour.

EverLights' install page says 1 year on colour-changing lights, 5 years on parts plus 1 year of labour when EverLights installs, and 15 years on the Classic line. Its warranty page says 1 to 10 years by product and install method, with schedules for installs before and after July 2025 shown as images, and its kit page lists both 3 years and one year. It also sets the conditions a dealer has to live with: labour is excluded, third-party installs must follow EverLights' instructions and use its bridge, receivers, boosters, connectors and buffers, a dealer-sold warranty starts at full app activation, and transfer needs registration within 90 days.

Neither brand pays for labour past the first year, and EverLights pays none at all on a dealer install, so the service visit in year two is your cost unless the agreement says otherwise. Our permanent lighting installation agreement template has that clause.

What does it cost to become a dealer?#

Neither publishes a dollar figure. JellyFish says startup costs are low, with "different opening purchase levels" and no franchise or territory fees, plus guided training and a dedicated lighting specialist. Its FAQ asks whether it sells territories and whether you can carry a competing brand, without public answers. EverLights' dealer page offers the same kind of line, "minimal startup costs that include product," with no number beside it.

So call both and ask the same five questions: the opening purchase in dollars, the annual minimum, the territory policy, whether you may carry another brand, and the dealer warranty term in writing. If you want published numbers to compare against, Trimlight's door price is on the EverLights vs Trimlight page.

Worked example: a two-storey with a back patio#

A two-storey with 180 ft of roofline (70 ft of it on the upper storey, and 60 ft of the total across the back over the patio), 40 ft of peaks and three unlit jumps of 6 ft each, for 220 lit feet. Measured from owned photos of the front and back with the garage door as the reference, an estimate confirmed on site. You can price this house in the free tool. GlowBid's default rate card, track line, US dollars before tax; installers set their own rates.

  5. 5Wi-Fi controller$250
Drawn from the table below. Read the lines

Roofline 180 ft $25 per ft $4,500.00
Peaks 40 ft $28 per ft plus 15 percent pitch premium $1,288.00
Jumps (3, unlit) 18 ft $12 per ft $216.00

Wi-Fi controller 1 $250 $250.00
Total $6,429.00
Deposit to book, 30 percent $1,928.70

That is $29.22 per lit foot. At JellyFish's corporate range the same 220 ft is $5,500 to $7,700 before its $650 to $850 controller, by our arithmetic. The brand changes what goes on the work order:

On this house JellyFish EverLights
Nodes for 220 lit ft 440 at 6 in, 294 at 9 in, 165 at 16 in 294 at 9 in (Trimlight's figure; confirm with EverLights)
Controllers and zones 1 controller: 220 ft is under the 250 ft JellyFish states 1 bridge; 2 receivers if the patio runs its own scene
Power 48 V supply for the lights, 12 V for the controller 220 ft in 75 ft booster sections is 2.9, so three powered sections
Unlit jumps Priced as their own run Three 6 ft jumps over 5 ft: three data buffers
Warranty text on the quote The parts term in your dealer agreement, plus 1 year labour The schedule for your install date, plus the labour year you offer

The patio is where the two brands part on this house. On JellyFish it fits under the one controller's 250 ft; on EverLights it is one more receiver on the same bridge. Either way the customer sees one price, and the hardware list underneath it is what changes.

When to choose JellyFish#

Choose JellyFish when you want one controller sized in feet, a 48 V track that covers most single houses on one box, and more published detail on the light itself (lens, diodes, wire gauge, colour temperature range). The dealer door has no franchise or territory fee. Get the parts term in writing, and ask whether a corporate location or a partner already sells near you.

When to choose EverLights#

Choose EverLights when you like wireless zones from one bridge, your houses have sound gutters for a gutter-lip mount, and you work outside its five corporate markets. You also need to be comfortable selling against a DIY kit the homeowner can buy. Build the booster and buffer count into every quote, and activate the app at handover, since that starts a dealer-sold warranty.

Homeowners: what does the voltage mean for you?#

Very little day to day; it shows up on the quote as hardware. A JellyFish quote should show one controller line, and a second only if your house runs past 250 ft. An EverLights quote may show boosters and data buffers as their own lines. JellyFish's corporate pricing lists the controller separately at $650 to $850, so a quote that folds it into the per-foot rate is harder to compare, not cheaper. Ask too when the warranty starts: on an EverLights dealer sale it starts at app activation.

Where EverLights and JellyFish quotes go wrong#

  • Pricing EverLights jumps like JellyFish jumps. Every unlit jump over 5 ft on EverLights carries a data buffer. Add the buffer line when you draw the jump.
  • Assuming one controller on a long job. JellyFish states 250 ft per controller. Add up front and back before you price.
  • Putting the bridge where there is no Ethernet. The EverLights bridge plugs into the router. Find the router before you promise a mounting spot.
  • Ordering spacing from memory. JellyFish lists 16 inches on two pages and 18 on another. Confirm on the order form.
  • Ignoring the partner and corporate map. No territory fee often means shared territory. Ask before you spend on ads.
  • Quoting a white you have not seen. EverLights publishes RGBW with a true warm white, and JellyFish publishes 2700K to 5000K presets. Show both at night before you promise a colour.

Putting boosters, buffers and controllers on one quote#

Changing brands changes your hardware lines more than your per-foot rates. On a JellyFish line the add-ons are controllers and power supplies; on an EverLights line they are the bridge, receivers, boosters and data buffers. Build each brand and spacing as its own product line, then re-quote three houses you already sold. Our permanent per-foot pricing guide sets the base rates, and the permanent lighting cost page shows what homeowners are quoted.

In GlowBid those hardware lines sit beside the runs you drew. You draw roofline, ridge line, peak and jump runs on a photo you own and set the scale from a known length, and the footage, bill of materials and price come from that drawing, so a jump you add shows up in the footage and the price at once. Every measurement carries a source tag and a confidence level, and the quote says photo footage is an estimate confirmed on site. The customer signs the quote PDF on their phone and the deposit goes through Stripe.

FAQ

Questions installers ask

Is EverLights or JellyFish better for an installer?

Neither is better across the board. JellyFish gives you three published spacings, a 48 V system with 250 ft of lights per controller and no franchise or territory fees. EverLights gives you a 24 V system, a wireless bridge and receiver layout, and a DIY kit line your customers can also buy. Choose by who else sells the brand in your area and which power layout suits your houses.

What voltage do EverLights and JellyFish run on?

JellyFish runs its lights at 48 V DC with a 12 V controller, on its product and Built to Last pages. The EverLights ClickLights kit ships with a 24 V power supply, and its install page calls for a power booster about every 75 ft. Voltage sets how far a run goes before it needs more power, so it decides how many hardware lines go on your quote.

Is the JellyFish warranty 3 years or 5 years on parts?

It depends which JellyFish page you read. The Smart Eave Lights product page and the Why JellyFish page say 5 years on parts and 1 year on labour. The holiday lighting page says three years on parts and one year on labour. Get the term in writing on your dealer agreement, and print that number, not a web page, on the customer's quote.

How much does JellyFish cost per foot?

About $25 to $35 per foot plus $650 to $850 for the controller, at JellyFish's corporate locations, on its pricing page. Its independent dealers set their own prices. On a 220 ft house that range works out to $5,500 to $7,700 before the controller, by our arithmetic. EverLights publishes no installed price; its DIY kit is $1,675 for 100 ft.

Can I buy EverLights or JellyFish without being a dealer?

EverLights, yes: ClickLights kits are sold on its site, so a contractor can buy and install them, though a third-party install must follow its instructions and use its components to keep the warranty. JellyFish's pages we read describe installs by its own locations and authorized dealers, plus a partner program where you refer and sell while JellyFish installs. We found no DIY kit on them.

How many feet of lights does one controller run?

JellyFish states 250 ft of lights per controller, with more power supplies added for more lights. EverLights works differently: one Smart Bridge pairs with up to 20 wireless receivers, each on its own strand, with a power booster about every 75 ft. A long house or a front and back job can need a second zone on either brand, so price it as its own line.
