Seasonal Christmas light installation in Phoenix runs $7 to $9 per linear foot of roofline with commercial C9 lights on Holiday Lights Phoenix's price list, or $2.50 to $7 a foot in South Mountain Window Cleaning's cost breakdown, across the 4 Valley company pages I checked on September 7, 2026. Packages run $500 to $2,500 and up, typical homes $1,899 to $2,799, permanent $18 to $38 a foot. I install permanent lighting in Ottawa; these are Phoenix's public numbers.

What do Phoenix installers charge per foot for seasonal lights?#

$7 to $9 a foot of roofline, and the same page prices everything else on a Valley house by the piece. Holiday Lights Phoenix, working Chandler, Ahwatukee, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert and Paradise Valley, is the only local company with a per-foot rate on its own price list: $7 to $9 per linear foot of roofline or eave with custom-cut commercial LED C9s or string lights, timer, a no-bulb-out guarantee, takedown in January and climate-controlled storage inside the number.

Everything that is not roofline is per strand or per piece: palms $15 to $25 a strand with five or six strands on a 10 to 15 ft palm, so $75 to $150 a tree; shrubs $15 to $17 a strand; door and entry framing $75 to $150 an opening; pathway lighting $50 to $150 a zone; wreaths and garland $45 to $120 apiece. On a Gilbert single-storey with three queen palms and a courtyard entry, the roofline can be less than half the ticket. For the per-foot method, start with the seasonal pricing guide; for palms and trees specifically, the tree wrapping page covers per-strand versus per-foot.

What does a full package cost in Phoenix?#

$500 to $2,500 and up, with typical homes at $1,899 to $2,799. Holiday Lights Phoenix publishes $500 to $2,500 and up for an all-inclusive residential package, small homes from $400 to $500. South Mountain Window Cleaning, serving Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Chandler, starts full service at $999 with typical homes at $1,899 to $2,799 and Scottsdale and Paradise Valley estates at $6,500 to $15,000 and up. Labour only on a customer's own lights on a two-storey runs $152 to $412 with a $278 average on the same page, and its cost breakdown puts a foot at $0.50 to $2 of materials plus $2 to $5 of labour, $2.50 to $7, which is a guide figure rather than the company's own rate. Stay Off The Roof publishes no numbers for seasonal, only that it is priced per home and that install dates fill months before Thanksgiving.

Both published packages include storage, and Holiday Lights Phoenix says climate-controlled, which in Phoenix is the version that matters: a garage in Mesa in July is not where you keep a customer's strings for a season.

What do permanent lights cost in Phoenix?#

$18 to $38 per foot installed, from two East Valley dealers who publish a range. Leading Edge Decorative Lighting (April 2, 2026) says $24 to $38 a foot for a professional smart LED system, $3,840 to $6,080 installed on a 2,200 sq ft single-storey with 160 ft of roofline, including a licensed crew, controller setup and app configuration. It also prices the DIY comparison: $600 to $700 of consumer-grade product for about 150 ft, $90 to $125 an hour if you pay someone to hang it, and about five years in Arizona before a full redo, because the mounting fails.

Stay Off The Roof (July 2026), a Gemstone dealer, says $18 to $35 a foot and roughly $2,000 to $6,000 and up for a typical home, with colour-matched track, concealed wiring, app control, a lifetime parts warranty and free first-year maintenance. That brackets Ottawa's $37.30 CAD average (about $26.95 USD) and sits inside the US range on our permanent cost page. A 160 ft Phoenix front at $30 is $4,800, or roughly two and a half seasons of a $1,899 package.

Is Christmas light installation taxable in Arizona?#

Ask your accountant, and I will say why plainly. Arizona does not have a sales tax on services; it has a transaction privilege tax (TPT) levied on the seller by business class, and whether a lighting install falls under retail, contracting or nothing depends on what you sell and whether it attaches to the house. The Arizona Department of Revenue's pages returned an error every time I tried to load them on September 7, 2026, so I will not quote them from memory.

What is verified: the City of Phoenix confirms its rate is 2.8 percent on most activities, and Avalara's Phoenix page puts the combined 2026 rate at 9.1 percent (5.6 state, 0.7 Maricopa, 2.8 city). Quote before tax, show tax as its own line with a label, and set the percent once your accountant tells you which class you are in. On a GlowBid card that is one field.

When is the Phoenix season?#

October through November for installs and January for takedown, with the calendar set by booking, not by weather. Phoenix's 1991 to 2020 normals put November at a 77 high and 54 low and December at 66 and 45; the NWS threshold table says the last 100-degree day averages October 5. So the install season opens the week the heat breaks, and a December install is a shirtsleeve day.

The constraint is capacity. Holiday Lights Phoenix says spots fill by early October and prime November dates go first; Stay Off The Roof says install dates fill months before Thanksgiving. Takedown is January on both published packages. HOAs in Scottsdale, Gilbert and Chandler will have their own display windows; put yours in the agreement.

What do heat, tile and monsoon do to the price?#

They set the product, the storage line and the permanent rate. Four Valley realities for the rate card:

  • Summer on the roofline. Phoenix averages a 107 high in July, with 110-degree days from June 11 to August 26 on average. Leading Edge describes roofline surfaces at 150 degrees and up, UV degradation and adhesive failures on consumer track. That is the case for the $24 to $38 permanent rate: the product that survives July costs more.
  • Storage. Seasonal strings left in a garage for a Phoenix summer come out brittle. Holiday Lights Phoenix builds climate-controlled storage into its per-foot rate; price it as a line, not a favour.
  • Monsoon wind. Leading Edge cites monsoon winds above 60 mph. Permanent track and clips have to be fastened for it; a seasonal job that goes up in October is fine, a permanent job has to hold through August.
  • Tile and parapets. Valley houses are stucco with tile eaves and flat parapets, not shingle and gable. Peaks are rarer than in a northern market, so the peak premium matters less; clip type and roofline length matter more.
  • Material waste. Heat-damaged strands and cracked clips. A 10 percent materials buffer, shown as the installer's choice, covers it.

A worked example: a 160 ft Gilbert single-storey on GlowBid's default C9 card#

A single-storey stucco house with a tile roof, a two-car garage, a courtyard entry, a walkway and two queen palms. Measured from the homeowner's photo with the 16 ft garage door as the reference: 160 ft of roofline, no peaks, one 6 ft jump across the entry, 30 ft of walkway and two 30 ft palm wraps. Every rate is the GlowBid default on the Seasonal C9 line; installers set their own.

Lit footage is 250 ft; with the 10 percent buffer the materials list says 275 ft of cord. The roofline at $8.00 a foot sits inside Holiday Lights Phoenix's $7 to $9. The palms do not: $180 each on the default per-foot tree rate against their $75 to $150 per palm, which is why the tree run type can be switched to a flat price per each and set to the local number. The whole ticket, $1,859, lands just under South Mountain's typical $1,899 to $2,799 and inside Holiday Lights Phoenix's $500 to $2,500 and up. Tax is left at zero until your accountant answers the TPT question. Draw your own house in the free roofline tool and the footage is there in two minutes; it is an estimate confirmed on site, and the quote says so.

Setting a Phoenix rate card#

Five settings that make a card Valley-ready:

  1. Palms per each, not per foot. The market prices palms by the strand and lands at $75 to $150. Set the tree run to per-each and price the sizes.
  2. Entry framing and pathway zones as add-ons. $75 to $150 an opening and $50 to $150 a zone are line items with a quantity.
  3. Storage as a line. Climate-controlled storage is a real cost here. Show it.
  4. Tax as a labelled line, set once. 9.1 percent combined in Phoenix, different in Scottsdale, Mesa and Gilbert. One field per card, and the accountant's answer on which class applies.
  5. Rush after your cut-off. Both published pages say October fills. Charge for the late ones; the GlowBid default is 20 percent.

GlowBid bills in US dollars; the rate card holds whatever numbers you type. Founding pricing is on the pricing page.

Mistakes to avoid pricing in Phoenix#

  • Pricing palms by the foot of wrap. A 30 ft wrap at $6 is $180 and the market says $75 to $150. Per each, sized, or you lose the palm jobs and win the roofline ones.
  • Quoting a two-storey premium on a single-storey market. Most Valley stock is one storey. A 10 percent storey premium on nothing is fine; a per-foot rate padded for storeys that are not there is not.
  • Storing a customer's strings in your own garage. July does the damage, and the customer finds out in November. Climate-controlled, and priced.
  • Guessing on TPT. A 9.1 percent surprise on a $1,859 invoice is $169.17. Get the class ruling from your accountant before the season.
  • Booking the whole calendar into November. The heat breaks in early October. Fill October first and price November as rush.
  • Selling consumer track as permanent lighting. Leading Edge's own comparison gives it about five years in this climate. If you install it, warrant it accordingly and say so on the quote.

FAQ

Questions installers ask

How much does Christmas light installation cost per foot in Phoenix?

$7 to $9 per linear foot of roofline with custom-cut commercial C9 or string lights on Holiday Lights Phoenix's price list, the only Valley company pricing by the foot on its own rate sheet. South Mountain Window Cleaning's cost guide breaks a foot into $0.50 to $2 of materials and $2 to $5 of labour, $2.50 to $7. Palms are $15 to $25 a strand. A 160 ft roofline at $8 is $1,280 before palms, entry framing or tax.

What does a full Christmas light package cost in Phoenix?

From $400 to $500 for a small home to $2,500 and up, with most typical homes at $1,899 to $2,799. Holiday Lights Phoenix publishes $500 to $2,500 and up for a full residential package; South Mountain Window Cleaning starts full service at $999 with typical homes at $1,899 to $2,799 and Scottsdale and Paradise Valley estates at $6,500 to $15,000 and up. Labour only on the customer's lights averages $278.

Is Christmas light installation taxable in Arizona?

Ask your accountant, because Arizona's transaction privilege tax is levied on the seller by business class, not as a general sales tax on services, and the Department of Revenue pages would not load for me to link. What is clear: Phoenix's combined rate is 9.1 percent (5.6 state, 0.7 Maricopa, 2.8 city), and the city confirms its 2.8 percent on most activities. Quote before tax and show tax as a line.

When do Phoenix installers put up and take down Christmas lights?

October through November for installs, January for takedown, and the calendar is set by booking rather than weather. Holiday Lights Phoenix says spots fill by early October and prime November dates go first; Stay Off The Roof says install dates fill months before Thanksgiving. November averages a 77 high and 54 low, December 66 and 45, so a December install is fine for the crew and rarely for the schedule.

How much do permanent Christmas lights cost in Phoenix?

$18 to $38 per foot installed, from two East Valley pages. Leading Edge Decorative Lighting says $24 to $38 a foot and $3,840 to $6,080 for a 160 ft single-storey; Stay Off The Roof, a Gemstone dealer, says $18 to $35 a foot and $2,000 to $6,000 and up for a typical home. The Arizona angle is heat: roofline surfaces the installers describe as 150 degrees and up, UV, and monsoon wind.

Can I quote a Phoenix house from a photo?

Yes, as an estimate confirmed on site. Set the scale from the garage door, draw the roofline and the parapet or tile eave, and the rate card prices the footage. Photo measurements are estimates; runs angled away from the camera read short, and every GlowBid measurement carries a source and confidence label. Palms and tile details get confirmed with the tape on install day.
